Team Progress

Our team held 3 meetings this week, where we completed our team contract, game proposal and presentation slides. We also established our individual roles for the project. Finally, we presented our game proposal in-class.

Individual Contributions

When coming up with our game proposal, I assisted in coming up with the game genre and style, and in creating the core mechanics of the game. Some mechanics I helped develop were the battery charge, which functions as the player's health and stamina, and the body mods. I also helped create some of the example body mods that were listed in the game proposal document.

Example of the visual style and GUI our game is going for.

For the game proposal document, I helped write parts of it and formatted the final document. During our proposal presentation, I presented 2 slides.

Reflection

One problem that we ran into this week was determining how the player would obtain the body mods and how we would create and animate the sprites for the different body mods. While we came up with suggestions to solve these problems, we have yet to agree on solutions to them. In the next few weeks, we will test the different suggestions we have and then determine the solution we will use for each problem.

Another problem we ran into was coming up with a decision during our team meetings. This occurred as our discussions would go on too long and we would discuss things that did not need to be decided at that time. To solve this, we could set a timer to limit our discussion time, and make a list of things we need to decide on at that time.
