Week 11

Team Progress

Our team held a meeting this week where we discussed our level setups and our body mod switching station. For the rest of the week, we worked on coding additional enemies, refining the existing body mods, updating our body mod switching station with a more usable UI, and implementing feedback from the previous week. We ended up creating four playable levels for the beta code submission and playtested them. Based on the playtest results, we updated our GDD and completed the playtest report.

Individual Contributions

This week, I worked on creating the intensity ramp using the setups we came up with last week and new setups. Using the list of labelled setups I created last week, I began organizing them to create the intensity ramp. However, due to time constraints, we ended up changing our game level layout, reducing the number of rooms in our game. Since the intensity ramp was based on the original game level layout, I will have to update it to fit the new game level layout. We will discuss this in our next meeting.

I also worked on the ambient background music for our game. I further worked on the tracks I created last week, adding in more sounds and arranging the parts. To speed this up, I will additionally use royalty-free loops and instrument parts to speed up the sound design. These tracks and loops will be further worked on the following week.

Reflection

One issue we ran into was the number of levels/rooms we originally planned to include in our game. Due to time constraints, we had to scale back the number of levels/rooms in our game, changing the overall game level layout. Currently, for the beta code, we implemented four levels. Because of this, the intensity ramp of our game and the number of setups we will include needs to be changed to fit the new game level layout. We will discuss this in our next meeting to decide how many levels/rooms and setups we will include in our game and finish developing the levels from there.
