Team Progress
Our team held 3 meetings this week, where we finalized the first iteration of the GDD and created the sides for our GDD presentation. We also decided on the visual style of our game; the finalized narrative of our game; and the overall level progression, based on our narrative, with the exact number of level sections.
Individual Contributions
This week we worked on our GDD and the slides for the GDD presentation. For the overall level progression, the team agreed on the following section structure, based on the narrative, that I suggested: 1) Section 1 - Tutorial Section => 2) Section 2 - First Level Section => 3) Sections 3 + 4 - Mid-Game Level Sections, must both be completed to progress but can be done in any order => 4) Section 5 - Final Level Section

Another thing I worked on was the game world concept image. To create the game world concept image, I found a free tileset that fit the aesthetic and visual style of our game. I then imported the tileset into Photoshop and adjusted the image a bit to make it easier to work with. Since the tileset did not contain a box/crate tile asset, I found one similar to the one the tileset author used in his example images and adjusted the colour to match the tileset's colour scheme. Next, I used the provided background image and began constructing in Photoshop an example layout for a small area of a level using the tileset to show what the game world would look like.

Reflection
One problem that I ran into this week was finding tiles/tilesets that matched the aesthetic and visual style of our game. Most of the tiles/tilesets I found were pixel art, paid assets, and/or did not fit our game's visual style. I eventually found some tiles and tilesets that closely fit the aesthetic and visual style we wanted and used them to create the game world concept image. However, the tiles were only 16x16, which made our characters look small when placed in our game world.
The solution we proposed was to create our own tiles that were either 128x128 or 256x256 using an existing tileset as a layout template. In the next weeks, we will begin designing our own tiles to fit our desired aesthetic and visual style. This will also make it easier for us to scale the characters and game world to fit each other.
