Team Progress

Our team met this week and decided what our prototype 1 would look like. We also came up with the design questions we would test in our prototype 1 playtest and divided the roles for creating prototype 1.

Individual Contributions

This week, we came up with the design questions for our prototype 1. I assisted in coming up with the design questions, the user questions, and the testing criteria for each design question. One of the design questions I helped come up with was " Do new players understand what the game is about? ".

The tileset used for the world concept image.

For prototype 1, I was tasked to create the test puzzle using the body mod we would include in prototype 1. This week, I tried creating the example level using the tileset I used for the world concept image. One issue that came up was that we did not have the body mod we wanted to use selected, thus making it hard to design the level. As well, the tileset's small size compared to the background image made it difficult to construct the level.

Reflection

Since the body mod for prototype 1 was not yet chosen, the puzzle layout could not be designed. Also, the tileset size made it difficult to construct the test level as it was tedious to layer the tiles and offset the pipes to create different shaped pipes. As a result, the test level could not be constructed.

The solution we came up with was to try and create our own tiles based on existing tiles from the Unity Asset Store. Also, we ended up deciding on the body mod (a drill) we are using for prototype 1. Therefore, for next week, we will try making our own tiles, or at least find temporary tiles to use, and create the test level based on the selected body mod.
